It is easy to access Nearmap imagery through Google Earth® or Google Earth Pro®.

Please note that at this time, only the most recent image capture is available for a given location.

  1. From the Add menu, select Network Link.

  2. In the Network Link window, at the Name field, enter Nearmap. At the Link field, enter

NOTE that you do not need to enter your username and password.

Am I connected?

Check you are connected to Nearmap imagery:

  1. The node with the name of the network link from Step 1 should have a green dot.
    Expand this node to see further information related to the imagery.

    If you see a red dot on the Nearmap image node and/or no Nearmap logo, check the URL and API key that you entered in Step 2.

  2. Check that the Nearmap logo is displaying in the top left corner of the imagery.
    The imagery shown for a given location is the most recent Nearmap image available for that location.

    If you are accessing a region not covered by your subscription OR not covered by Nearmap imagery, you see a message: "Outside your subscription"

You cannot access previous captures in Google Earth. Since low zoom levels may include imagery from many dates, zoom in close to a location of interest to be sure that you're seeing the appropriate date for its capture.


Google Earth not accepting login credentials

This may be a cookies issue. To delete Google Earth's cookies, follow these steps:

  1. In Google Earth, go to the Options menu.

  2. Switch to the General tab.

  3. Uncheck the Save cookies to disk box and click OK. If you do not do this, you may lose the ability to access Nearmap via Google Earth as soon as you next login to the MapBrowser. If that happens, you will need to manually delete Google Earth's "cookies" file and restart Google Earth. On Windows 7, this is usually found at:


Google Earth not accepting Nearmap login

This section should help if you try to login using correct Nearmap credentials in Google Earth, but the login window keeps appearing whatever you type, even if you click Cancel.
This can happen if Step 3 of our Google Earth integration instructions was missed. If Google Earth saves your validated credentials to disk, it will try to use the same saved Nearmap authentication cookie every time you try to log in. That may be fine if you haven't logged in elsewhere. However, if you have used the MapBrowser more recently, the original cookie becomes invalid but Google Earth tries to use it anyway.

The solution for now is to keep Google Earth from storing that cookie:

On Windows 7 

  1. Find Google Earth's cookies file on your hard drive. It is typically at "C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth\cookies" where YOUR_USERNAME is your Windows username.

  2. Delete this file.

  3. Follow all steps of the Google Earth integration instructions.

Delete Google Earth cache

If you are still experiencing issues logging in or accessing imagery, try clearing the Google Earth cache. Follow these steps:

  1. In Google Earth select File > Server Sign Out.
  2. Select Tools > Options and on the Cache tab.
  3. Press Delete cache file.

  4. Select File > Server Sign In or restart Google Earth.
