Administrators can check the usage of Nearmap data through the account portal.
How you are charged depends on your subscription.

Nearmap Usage Types
Your consumption of Nearmap data is charged by Usage Type.
The table below shows the different usage types that are displayed in the account portal.

ArcGIS Online relates only to 2D Data. Usage is only shown in the annual and monthly charts alongside 2D Data.
Checking Nearmap Data Usage
To check Nearmap data usage:
- As a Nearmap administrator, log in to Nearmap at http://admin.nearmap.com/welcome.
- Click the Usage tab.
Viewing Usage for Each Subscription
This tab shows you a summary of your account, including your usage period, your annual data allowance, how many months you have remaining, and the amount of data (MB/GB, km2/mi2, parcels, transactions...) consumed on your account so far since the beginning of the annual subscription.
Usage is shown per subscription.
- If your account has more than one subscription, click the tab of the subscription you want to view.
- If your subscription has more than one usage type, select the usage type you want to view from the dropdown list.
(Refer to the table in this section: Nearmap Usage Types).
The screenshot below shows a subscription to two usage types: 2D data and Transactions.
- The bar shows you the total usage to date as part of the entire period's allowance.
Viewing Annual Usage
As an administrator you will see a Usage History graph if your allowance is annual.
The Usage history chart shows your usage during the last 12 months. Where you have a linked account with ArcGIS Online, you'll see both types of usage.
If viewing on desktop, you can hover your cursor over each bar to view the actual usage stats for the usage type and ArcGIS Online usage, if applicable.
Viewing Monthly Usage
The Usage per month chart shows historical usage on your subscription for the past 12 months. Where you have a linked subscription with ArcGIS Online, you'll see both types of usage.
- Make sure that, if there are multiple content types in this subscription, you select the one you want to view the usage for.
- Hover over any month's bar in the chart to see the amount of usage measured for that month.
Viewing Usage per User
Below the chart, the Usage per user table shows you a breakdown of the data consumption of the selected usage type per user for the current month.
- If there are multiple content types in this subscription, select the one you want to view the usage for.
- Scroll down to the Usage per User part of the page.
- Check the radio button against the period you wish to view.
The radio buttons are as follows:
- Current month
- Previous month
- Current term
If this is an annual subscription, there is also a radio button to be able to select the current term, which includes the data consumption from the beginning of the usage term until now.
Downloading user usage
You can download usage for all users of this subscription
The Download CSV button will export the data for the selected month into a .csv file, showing data for all usage types against each user.

- Mozilla Firefox
On Safari, users will get a new tab with the data rather than a download.
How do I know if I'm reaching my usage limit? —
Administrators can check your account usage on the Self Service Portal. Follow the instructions here: View Account Data Usage.
- All account administrators receive a notification when your allowed data limit and/or AI parcel limit reaches 80%.
- All account administrators receive another notification when your allowed data limit and/or AI parcel limit reaches 100%.
Why can't I see an annual usage chart? —
You will only see an annual usage chart if these two conditions are both true:
- you are an Administrator of your Nearmap account
- you have an annual subscription.
What to do if my Nearmap account is limited? —
If your account is limited you may be unable to view Nearmap content. This may occur if you have exceeded your usage or have an unpaid invoice that is overdue. You will see the following errors when your account is limited:

How do I increase my usage limit? —
Speak to your Nearmap Account Manager to arrange to increase your usage limit.
When will our usage reset? —
Usage resets 12:00am UTC. Monthly allowances are reset on the first day of the month. Annual allowances are reset at the beginning of each new usage term.
Does interacting with the imagery in the area definition window count towards my usage? —
Yes. When you define an area, a small amount of imagery is loaded to provide context for where we have coverage. We envisage that there will be very little usage coming from this tool because:
- The map is very small, i.e. not full screen
- It is used infrequently to create services
Are the usage statistics in Self Service Portal accurate? —
We regularly audit our data usage calculations, examining server logs in order to determine whether session by session, day by day, correct usage statistics are being stored and shown. It is important to note that all imagery streamed from our server to your computer contributes to data usage, not just when using the Export function.
Do bigger areas in custom WMS contribute more to my usage? —
No. The areas that you define for your custom service are simply instructions on how to build a list of layers in that service. At the time of creation, no requests for imagery within the area of interest are made. Usage is accrued only when you bring the WMS service into your GIS application and add it to the map.
How do I download additional 3D formats for an existing export without getting charged again? —
You can access your downloads at any time by clicking the Downloads button on MapBrowser.
Make sure you're on the correct tab - 3D EXPORTS or AI EXPORTS.
Do viewing and measuring 3D content consume my data usage? —
No. Viewing and measuring 3D content do not count towards your standard imagery data allowance. (This is unlike viewing 2D content - refer to About Data Usage for more information.)
How can I check my monthly DSM and TrueOrtho usage? —
Yes. If you are a Nearmap Administrator, in the Self Service Portal you can see your monthly allowance and your usage, expressed as number of transactions. Learn how to View Account Data Usage.
