This section provides instructions for loading georeferenced MapBrowser images in OpenRoads Designer:




Detailed instructions for loading georeferenced images are given below.

Exporting content from MapBrowser

  1. In MapBrowser, click Export in the toolbar.
  2. Select your area of interest, Export type as Georeferenced image, Projection system and the Resolution of the output image. 
  3. Click DOWNLOAD FILES to save a local copy of the image as a zip file.  

The zip file is downloaded to your default downloads folder. It contains the following files:

  1. The image as a .jpg raster file.
  2. A .jgw file, which helps CAD or GIS programs georeference your image.



Loading content into OpenRoads Designer

To load content exported from MapBrowser: 

  1. Launch OpenRoads Designer.
  2. Set the coordinate system in your OpenRoads workspace. The option to do this is located in the bottom left corner of the window.



  3. From the Attachment Tools dropdown, select Raster Manager.
  4. From the File menu of the Raster Manager, select Attach, Raster. The Raster Attachment Options dialogue is displayed.
  5. Navigate to your exports folder, and locate the .jpg and .jwg files to load. Select only the .jpg file. OpenRoads will automatically read the .jwg to georeference the image. If you rename one of the files, you must rename the other one such that the file names are identical. 




Selecting the georeferencing option

In the Raster Attachment Options dialogue, s elect Geometry Sister File as the option for georeferencing. The sister file is the .jwg file which contains the georeference information for the corresponding image file. 


You can now view the final output of georeferenced raster images displayed accurately in OpenRoads Designer.
