Exporting content from MapBrowser

  1. In MapBrowser, click Export in the toolbar.
  2. Select your area of interest on the map.
  3. In the Inspector panel:
    1. Set the Export type to 3D.
    2. Select a preferred Capture date.
    3. Select a Projection system.
    4. Select the Resolution of the output image from the list of values.
    5. Select the required options for Content types. In this example, the DSM and the DTM content types are selected, which are available in GeoTIFF formats.

  4. Click REVIEW EXPORT. The Export Summary dialogue is displayed where you can view details of your export.

  5. Click CONFIRM EXPORT to start the export. The Downloads dialogue displays the files that are being prepared for download.  

  6. As soon as the download is ready, click the filename to download the files to your local disk.

Loading content into OpenRoads Designer

To load content exported from MapBrowser: 

  1. Launch OpenRoads Designer.
  2. Click to set the coordinate system in your OpenRoads 3D workspace.

  3. Click the  Terrain tab, and select  From File

  4. Locate the downloaded file(s) and select the files to import.
  5. In the Import Ter r ain Model(s) dialogue, confirm that all options are set to maximi s e performance, such as number of points, and then click Import

    OpenRoads Designer will then generate a terrain model based on the .jpg raster image. 

Once the terrain model is loaded, you'll have the ability to work with it just like any other terrain model, such as creating cross sections and profiles, generating contours, and generating flow arrow maps.

3D Textured Mesh Example

This example shows how to load 3D textured mesh.

  1. Click the Home tab. From Attach Tools, select Reality Mesh.
  2. Select the textured file mesh that you exported from MapBrowser in the 3MX format. 

  3. Click OK to load the file within the 3D workspace.
